Styling White Tops

White has always been a favourite color of mine (yes, it is a color to me). I may or may not have stuffed my closet with a ton of white shirts in the recent months. My favorite would be a slightly oversized fit and of course, a light material. The rayon ones from Uniqlo has became my ultimate fave for it's breathable, has a good cut, and easy on the pocket. I personally like rolling up the sleeves slightly below my elbow, as well as leaving the top two or three buttons unbuttoned. Throw on a pair of denim shorts and i'm good to go when i'm in a rush for school.

With my love for the color white, Ann and I did a short video on styling white top on Youtube, so be sure to swing by! The photos below were part of the video and I thought the lush greenery was a nice backdrop to her outfit.

WHITE SHIRT & DENIMS

It's pretty much typical of us tropical islanders to have a penchant for breezy and comfortable clothes during the summer time. Sometimes, it's too breezy that one goes overboard (think worn out t-shirt, shorts and flip slops). Not sure if this still holds water hitherto, Singaporeans were once infamously known to be dressed sloppily, even in posh hotels and shopping malls. Come to think of it: the sweltering sun, the ridiculously high humidity levels, and the haze just warrants nothing but a set of comfy clothes. I was never affected as much as before but the heat really got me this time. Putting on a pair of jeans just seems nearly out of the question for me now.

As a white shirt fanatic, the rayon material ones from Uniqlo is like a no-brainer for me (no, this is not a sponsored post). Alas, it's been quite a while since I've worn denim skirts too. White short and denim skirt, why not?

On a side note, we (Ann and I) were really stoked when the new and upcoming fashion platform gave us a feature. Swing by their website here to check it out, if you are curious!

A LITTLE SOMETHING

I'd say school breaks are always the most coveted in my life as a student. Those one-month-long holidays during primary and secondary (or junior and high) school suddenly seem inferior and insignificant when one advances to the tertiary level (mainly university and polytechnics in Singapore). On the contrary, I only got the privilege to enjoy the summer holidays during my very first year in Uni. Well, my sophomore year was spent at a photography and film company for internship. I can't complain much because it's a rather significant point in my learning curve. Now that my days as an art student is punctuated by my final dissertation paper, I've decided to take a break from the rat-race. Because life's too short. Actually no, it's not a legit break because i'm still furthering my music studies at the moment.

Oh right, with the bleary-eyed Rose smashing through the keyboard at 12.55 am after a long day, I've suddenly remembered my intent of this post! I l-o-v-e vintage cameras but never really had my hands on them just because most of dad's antique film cameras work on medium format films and they can be rather costly to purchase and develop.

Olympus Vintage Camera

The Olympus-EE above belonged to my late grandpa. It has given in to wear-and-tear and is way beyond repair. Some people might aim for the thrash but this really hold sentimental value to me. On top of that, isn't it aesthetically pleasing as a prop for a flatlay too!

Clarks Black Sandals

I've always been bugged by my bunions and flat foot since young. For those who don't already know what bunions are, they are actually deformed bone that juts out of your biggest toe. I'd say the protruding bone can be rather annoying; some tighter fit shoes are totally out of the question for me. Above all, pain would come knocking on your door if you were to wear shoes with a narrower fit. Alas, these Clarks are super comfy and roomy for my dainty (not) feet. I've noticed how this comfort shoe maker has catch up with the fashion trend yet not forsaking the comfort factor.

Zara Pokka Dot Scarf

My mom has a soft spot for scarves and she has a huge collection of them in her room (although she'd most likely disagree). This one above is from Zara and with the thickness of the material, this should be used in the winter. I love the how the mustard yellow complements the navy blue but really, it's a little cumbersome to chuck it in my bag!

Malt Cupcakes

Having a family member who bakes is always a blessing but a sister who takes the extra effort to make any sweet treats less guilty is a privilege! It's no secret that Ann's bake goods always turn out perfect. It's something I can't achieve but it's okay because, some people are simply born to eat! These are malt-flavored cupcakes with wholewheat pastry flour. It's kind of similar yet different from the regular wholewheat flour because you'd get the fluffiness of the regular white flour BUT with the fiber from the wholewheat.

It's 1.19 am now and I don't think I can string a proper sentence by now. I'm going to snoozeville soon and yes, don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Youtube!

LITTLE BLACK DRESS

DRESS MANGO/ CUFFS MANGO/ SHOES FOREVER 21

Although black might not be the most popular color in the summer, i'm sure we all can't deny its versatility. In the second part of our summer lookbook, Ann and I have prepared another four outfits that are super practical and presentable in this erratic season. I've decided not to spam all four outfits altogether in one post, lest it comes off looking more like an insincere spam post instead. Anyways, do check out our latest summer lookbook on our Youtube channel here!

SUMMER HAUL

I guess any folks in Singapore would have heard of the legendary Great Singapore Sale. Still clueless? It's a annual sale where most retailers (except for some uber posh brands) participate in this annual sale event and offer discounts up to a whopping 70 percent. And of course, Ann and I wouldn't let such a great opportunity pass by too. Alas, students being students, we made sure to spend within our budgets as well. We were so excited to share our finds and have made it into a haul video on our Youtube channel so be sure to check it out! Just a sneak peak, we got mainly several brands such as Tod's, Alexander Wang, Zara, Mango, and Esprit.

This is also our very first video where we speak straight to the camera. Being an awkward turtle myself, please pardon my weird gestures!

FULL LOOKBOOK HERE:

I guess there's very few with have not heard of the legendary Taylor Swift. Her songs, her voice, her style! Punch in Swift's name and you'd find 'Taylor Swift Style' to be one of the most searched on Pinterest or Tumblr. There is something about her fashion sense that appeals to the masses and we all have to agree on. Perhaps it's the x-factor and confidence she exudes. Last week Ann (who's also an ardent fan of Taylor Swift) styled a few outfits that was inspired by her idol. Coincidently most of the outfits picked here are also suitable for the hot summer period. Talk about the erratic weather, though. It was so much fun photographing and filming this lookbook but we wished the weather could be much cooler.

One pet peeve: does anybody's Macbook Pro autocorrects lookbook to cookbook too? Ugh, it just happened as I'm typing it again.
